Mexican food is one of the best internationally. It is recognized for its various dishes, is even considered as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco). It is simply delicious, however if your stomach is a little delicate, ask for sauces that aren´t so spicy, in any food site ask if it is too spicy, if you do it, you won´t have the "Moctezuma´s revenge". The legend says that the Aztec emperor Moctezuma continues taking revenge of his enemies even after his dead. When a tourist travels to Mexico and suffers stomach damage for not conditioning himself to the food, it´s said that he is the victim of Moctezuma’s revenge. 

Normally as travelers we are accustomed to try everything we find along the way, so it is good to ask before consuming a food that we don´t know how it was prepared, which condiments it carries, if it has spicy or not or if you want to try some spicy order apart, sometimes in Mexico the spicy is already inside the dish, so it´s no longer necessary use more sauce, I recommend going slowly, so your tolerance will gradually increase.

About water, most Mexicans are wary of tap water quality, especially in Mexico City and other areas in the south. For that reason, they drink bottled water if they can afford it, while others boil the water before drinking or cooking it. So, I recommend drinking bottled water.
